Do thoughts of food and weight consume your life? Has food become a reward, a punishment, a comfort, and an enemy? Are you on a diet roller coaster, measuring your self-worth by your weight? Do you feel guilty after eating "bad" food? I discuss these topics and more with Dr. Cristina Castagnini, Clinical Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. Finally A Way To Test The Health of Your Microbiome and Gut
Saturday Jan 13, 2024
Saturday Jan 13, 2024
How can you improve your gut health without knowing what is going on in there? That is where a gut health test comes in. Dietitian Nutritionist Georgia Saler, is owner of Vitality Nutrition and Wellness Center in Linwood, NJ. She uses the lab results from a simple assessment to improve her client’s gut microbiome. This test assesses bacteria, yeast, viruses, and parasites in the gut microbiome, alongside relevant digestive and inflammatory markers. The panel measures hundreds of species of microbes at once, providing the most comprehensive digestive health test on the market. In this episode, we take a closer look at the importance of our gut or “second brain” and how this test can help you make changes that improve your life. If you're experiencing any of the common symptoms of leaky gut, microbiome imbalance, GI disorders, or abnormal digestion, you may benefit from knowing more about what is going on in your gut. Our gut contains trillions of microorganisms, both harmful and beneficial, known as our “gut microbiome.” Maintaining a healthy balance of microorganisms within our microbiome is crucial. Factors such as diet, exercise, medications, and even genetics can affect its composition and diversity, impacting various aspects of our health for better or worse. An imbalance of unhealthy and healthy microbes in the intestines may contribute to weight gain, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and other disorders. https://vitalitynutritionandwellnesscenter.com/

A New Life Free From Alcohol - A Story of Recovery
Thursday Dec 28, 2023
Thursday Dec 28, 2023
"What felt like such weakness was really my greatest moment of strength," says Alex Greer about recognizing his addiction to alcohol. Alex is a successful entrepreneur and owner of Funky Pickle Productions in the Atlantic City area. Alex had friends, a good family, a nice place to live, and a business and steady income; he was thriving and successful by most measures. Yet, alcohol had become a problem in his life. When he finally admitted it to himself and the people who loved him, he found the help he needed. Today, he is living a better, happier, and healthier life, free from alcohol. As he recovered, he created Funky Pickle Productions, which hosts fun and exciting philanthropic pickleball events. I met him at a fundraising event that provides treatment assistance for people with addiction. He spoke publicly for the first time about his problems with alcohol and how he found the courage to overcome this addiction. His willingness to share his journey made such an impact on me that I invited him to be a guest on my podcast. In this powerful episode, he shares an important message - it can happen to any one of us, yet recovery is possible. He is living proof, and this is his story.
